“It took a while till Chillze was a born“
We first started in 2006 with ChillCorner, an all-in-one community forum where you could talk about everything, not many rules, a great atmosphere and we were really getting there, we almost reached 3.000 members by the end of 2007! But then – faith – we got severly hacked and the hacker deleted our complete database. We tried several times to rebuild ChillCorner and a few members came back but it never really was the same.
Then it was quite for a while till Gregory and I (Jonas) decided to start again with a new project in 2008 and we would call it “ChillNetwork“. It would contain a TheChillBlog, ChillCorner, TheChillHost, ChillVertise and ChillUpload. All sites had the same design but they all have their own color (e.g. TheChillBlog was grey, ChillCorner was blue…).
This failed big time. We got a few members on the forums and a few readers but that was it – after all, we are just two enthusiast persons, we don’t have a whole marketing team. So once again we quit but we still had the hosting and all the domain names, etc…
The blog was fun to do but the name TheChillBlog wasn’t that good so we decided to use Chillze – which is kinda like Google and Yahoo, don’t you think? – and turn it in a technology blog (including multimedia and science) dedicated to obsessively profiling and reviewing new Internet products and companies.
On March 16, 2009 we officially launced Chillze Technology Blog. It had a bought theme installed and we posted once a while something interesting. Nowadays Chillze has a custom skin (designed by myself), getting more and more readers every day and the name is also secured – we own all major domain extensions. The content has also improved a lot and has a very high quality – at least we try to. So as you can see, it took a while till Chillze was born.
